This is a small, personal site. It doesn't have accounts, doesn't run ads, and doesn't use analytics or tracking scripts. What follows is a plain description of the little that does happen.

Hosting

Like any website, the hosting provider keeps basic server logs (IP address, timestamp, requested page) for security and reliability. That's standard for all static web hosting and isn't something this site adds on top of.

YouTube embeds

Video pieces (in Aurora, and elsewhere on the site) are embedded from YouTube using youtube-nocookie.com, and the player itself is never loaded until you click play — visiting a page with a video on it does not, by itself, load anything from YouTube.

Nimbus — the rains

Nimbus is the one place on this site where you hand over an email. If you ask to "stand under Nimbus," you'll get an occasional email — a "rain": one small, ten-minute thing to do for your project, once or twice a month. Here is exactly what happens with what you give:

• What's stored: your first name, your email, the kind of project you're making, the optional one line you write about it, and your timezone (so a rain arrives at a reasonable local hour).
• Where it's stored: with our email provider, Brevo, who send the emails on our behalf. Nothing is sold, shared, or used for advertising, and there's no profiling beyond choosing which rain to send.
• Legal basis (GDPR/RGPD): your explicit consent, given by ticking the box and then confirming via a link we email you (double opt-in). We keep a timestamp of that consent.
• Your control: every rain has a one-click unsubscribe link, no login and no explanation needed. Using it deletes your details from our list. You can also write to lytharius@gmail.com to be removed or to ask what's held about you.
• Retention: your details are kept only while you're subscribed; unsubscribing removes them.

This site is run from France, and Nimbus is operated in line with the GDPR. If you never subscribe to Nimbus, none of the above applies to you — the rest of the site asks nothing of you.

Aurora

Aurora is a hand-curated gallery of pieces the community makes in response to Nimbus's rains. Here's exactly what gets published for each piece:

• the piece itself — an image, a short text, an audio clip, or a video
• the creator's alias (whatever they choose it to be — a real name isn't required)
• a short description of their project type (e.g. "a collage," "a field recording")
• optionally, a link to something of theirs

None of this is ever published without the creator's explicit, prior consent — every piece on Aurora was added after the person who made it said yes to exactly what would appear. Nothing is scraped, assumed, or published from a submission before that conversation happens.

Any creator can ask for their piece to be removed at any time, for any reason, no explanation required — it comes down as soon as we can get to it. Write to lytharius@gmail.com to request a takedown, or with any other question about this page.
